Transformers
The makeup is executed splendidly and the use of lace and patterns was very helpful to see how far the manipulation of appearance can take you. The colours and the way the model is photographed inspired me to make the mask for my White Space project.

Paper Magazine
Issue August 1997
Swingers
The styling is very nice (hunting meets streetwear) and tells the fashion and trends of that decade. I enjoyed watching this editorial with the contrast of the bright twirl and the faded pictures of the models. as if taken with a polaroid.

Bound Girl
John Willie illustrations for Bizarre number 6 and number 7
John Willie's iconic illustrations that feature the bondage aesthetic with grace. Number 6 is well known, only by itself and has appeared in numerous tattoos, social media posts. The colour palette is rather uncomplicated: Black, Red and White but the colours appear even more vividly on the page thanks to that simplicity. The ruffles in the bottom of Issue number 7 is in contrast to the spiky, shiny high leather or vinyl boots. The ribbons are symbols of "femininity" (as imposed by society) but also appear as a something that traps the woman. In a way it is an ironic element: evokes the societally expected woman and the woman that suffers from such limitations.

Black Breeze
Gianfranco Ferré for Dior S/S 1990
A flowy, yet elegant silhouette. These looks are a combination of office girl and wedding in the 60s. They are classy yet have a beautiful twist with the breezy materials/pieces. The bottoms are all straight cut black trouser, gives it a formal look, but that rigidness is broken by the white and the easy-going, translucent tops.

Black and White
The pose, the contrast between the background and the model, the styling, everything says black and white. The bold haircut is interesting and there is an elegance that is captivating.

Woman with Keloidal Scars (1961)
Blood and Rose, Tokyo (1969)
Hibakusha Senji Yamaguchi, Nagasaki (1962)
Powerful images, the dark and the light creating tension and energy. I admire him to portray people that may appear societally unattractive (scars, bruises etc.) but with the use of photography, turn them mesmerising.

LOOK 2
The sensuality and grace that Thierry Mugler brought in this collection is splendid. The silhouettes are smart yet unique and the bondage elements such as corsets or leather are incorporated in a sophisticated environment. I love the simplicity of black and white yet the layering of different fabrics and shapes.

MLMA's art is interesting and energetic. I really liked how she incorporated high quality image and a "low quality" drawing on top, playing with layers and colours. There's an element of distortion but playful nonetheless.

Teal Lock
Chanel Resort Collection 2015
Colours, Patterns and Wind.
A bohemian undertone that highlights the transparent patterned materials. The motifs are intricate and detailes, often flowers or oriental patterns with vivid, yet refined colours. In fact, the patterns and the layouts do not seem gaudy, but gives a relaxed impression.
